Goals
Goals that feel real
Goals link your budget categories to something personal so progress feels tangible.
How goals work
- Each goal is tied to a category.
- Funding the category moves the goal forward.
- Milestones break large goals into smaller wins.
- Goal tags help you spot goal categories in the budget table.
Step-by-step
- Create a goal and choose a target amount and date.
- Link it to a category (or create a new one).
- Assign money or use Goal Contributions.
- Track milestones to keep momentum.
How goals affect Safe to spend
Goals only affect Safe to spend when the linked category has a Set aside target and Goals included is on.
Use cases
- Big purchase: laptop, phone, or appliance.
- Travel fund: assign monthly and watch progress.
- Emergency savings: track a specific target amount.
Troubleshooting
- Goal progress not moving: make sure the linked category is funded.
- Goal not counted in Safe to spend: turn on Goals included.
- Missing goal tag: confirm the category is linked to a goal.
